JAPANESE (UNIDENTIFIED) – Decorative Plate
Bright white base ceramic
That said, there is a ‘hint’ of yellow to the white which I believe is due to the glazing used.
The ceramic is opaque, meaning that if held to the light you CANNOT see shadows of your fingers through the material.
Pattern: Unknown
The design comprises a dominant lattice work centred with hand decorated artwork.
The artwork has two peacocks above which are cherry blossoms and surrounded by foliage with two large red flower buds which I cannot identify. The artwork is very intricate and detailed with extremely fine gold outlines to most of the objects in the artwork. It looks quite similar to cloisonn metalwork but it has definitely been painted on the plate by hand.
The colours are striking, bright and vibrant.
155mm diameter (meaning it is medium sized, not tiny but not large either – like a large saucer)
NO holes or other supports for display purposes, you will need to use a small stand (NOT SUPPLIED)
