Krenek’s piano sonatas for the first time in one volume His Piano Sonatasmake up an important segment of his musical work, Ernst Krenek has, so to speak, an overview of the entire 20th century. They encompass a tonal period, the phase of a twelve-tone design, serial processes and the serial rotation technology he developed, right down to the delicate combination technique. Master pianists, above all Glenn Gould, love the lyrical-speaking, creative and atmospheric richness from Krenek’s piano sonatas, as well as the differentiated piano setting and the richly contrasting sound.
