The buyer must establish beforehand that this remote suits their own Olympus equipment, we had an E1 a long time ago and used the RM-2 with that camera but I am pretty sure it will also work fine with other E Series cameras – anyone considering this remote should CHECK FOR THEMSELVES FIRST
How?
Try looking in the user manual, if you have one.
If the manual is not available, try to see if the remote button layout looks “right” compared to your old remote.
Unlike domestic entertainment equipment manufacturers, Olympus is pretty good at providing a “universal” type of camera control remote, this makes it a lot easier for the user!

OLYMPUS – Camera Remote SPARE PART
NEW (but unboxed) IR Remote control
Genuine Olympus product NOT a 3rd party copyPart number: RM-2
This remote is very simple in operation – think of it as a remote shutter release, that’s all it does. Set up your shot and when ready, push the single button. Job done!
No other functions such as zoom etc – you need the RM-1 for that
The large central button is of course “lets shoot – take the photograph”
Remote onlyNEW Old Stock (unboxed)
We had a few photography accessories, all new from a long time ago. Today I found this remote but the box did not look “pretty” after being stored for a long time. The remote was inside a sealed clear plastic packet (thank goodness) but the factory installed battery was dead as …
To access the battery you need to unscrew a tiny screw in the centre of the rear (don’t lose it!) and it is easy to change the battery, you use a CR2025 3V Lithium. These are very easy to find if you need to change the battery in the future. Don’t let the conductive rubber contacts (where the button is) get dirty though!
I have installed a brand new CR2025 (for my testing) and decided to leave it inside the remote – so this is supplied with a “fresh” battery, ready to go
I have tested the remote with another Olympus I have here and all is good, operates as it should.
To keep this remote in “NEW” condition, I have resealed it in clear plastic but there will be no original box supplied for this one.
