The Chase begins with a dramatic opening and immediately captures the attention of the listener with its energetic melody. It should be played in a mainly detached style with crispness and energy in both the melody and accompaniment. The contrasting middle section is composed in a lush and schmaltzy style featuring the cellos and violas. Be sure to observe the dynamics closely for an exciting and rewarding performance.
