The Drumset Soloist Book and Online Audio

Build confident, musical drum solos with Steven Houghton’s The Drumset Soloist. Includes play-along audio covering trading, vamps and improvisation.

The Drumset Soloist by Steven Houghton is a practical guide designed to help drummers develop the skills and confidence to create musical, engaging drum solos in any style.

Rather than relying on memorised licks, this book focuses on essential soloing concepts including trading, playing over vamps, interpreting kicks (figures), and constructing solos that flow naturally. Each lesson is reinforced with accompanying audio play-alongs, allowing you to hear the concepts in context and practise alongside real musical examples.

Suitable for intermediate to advanced drummers, The Drumset Soloist is an excellent resource for anyone looking to expand their solo vocabulary, improve improvisation skills, and become a more confident and expressive performer. 48 pages.
